SETTING UP THE TORRID STOVE
SETTING UP THE TORRID HOT TENT STOVE
When you're deep in the backcountry, the last thing you want is to struggle with setting up your gear, especially when the temperatures start to drop. The Peax Torrid Hot Tent Stove is designed with one core goal in mind: ease of assembly. In this post, we'll walk you through the features and setup process of this innovative stove, showing you why it's the perfect companion for your next hunt.
FOCUS ON SIMPLICITY
One of the standout features of the Torrid Hot Tent Stove is its streamlined assembly process. The design team at Peax Equipment made it a priority to eliminate the hassle that comes with many traditional hot tent stoves. If you've ever spent precious time fumbling with wing nuts, rods, or loose parts that seem to disappear at the worst possible moments, you'll appreciate the fully captive system of the Torrid Stove. With this stove, all the components are securely attached, so there’s nothing to lose and no frustration in the setup.
The entire process is so straightforward that, once you get the hang of it, you can have the stove assembled in under a minute. This quick setup is a game-changer, especially when you’re dealing with cold weather and want to get warm as quickly as possible.
FOR THOSE WHO PREFER WRITEN INSTRUCTIONS
Let’s break down the setup process to show just how simple it really is.
1. Gather Your Components:
Start by laying out all the components. You’ll have the Flex Wall panel, front panel with the door, bottom and top plates, three adjustable leg brackets, the flue connector, and the dual damper spark arrestor.
2. Attach the Flex Wall Panel to the Front Panel:
The Flex Wall panel is a large sheet of titanium that forms the body of the stove. It’s notched at the top and has a hole that aligns with a hem at the top of the front panel. Slide the Flex Wall into the hem and secure it with a tab on the side of the door. This creates the basic U-shaped structure of the stove.
3. Insert the Flex Wall into the Bottom Plate:
Once the Flex Wall is attached to the front panel, place it inside the bottom plate of the stove. Peax Equipment has added tabs to the bottom plate that ensure the walls stay tight, preventing air gaps that could lead to sparks escaping and potentially damaging your gear.
4. Secure the Top Plate:
Place the top plate over the assembled components, sandwiching everything together. This step completes the basic stove structure.
5. Attach the Adjustable Leg Brackets:
The three leg brackets hook onto the top and bottom plates using a C-clamp design. The brackets are adjustable, allowing you to level the stove on uneven terrain. Simply hook the top of the bracket over the indented sections of the top plate and secure the bottom with the captive screw into the dimpled section of the bottom plate.
6. Insert the Flue Connector and Spark Arrestor:
The final step is to insert the flue connector into the top of the stove. This component is designed to twist and lock into place, ensuring it stays secure even in windy conditions. After securing the flue connector, insert the dual damper spark arrestor through the slots, and your stove is ready to go.
ORGANIZED STORAGE SYSTEM
Peax Equipment didn’t just focus on making the Torrid Stove easy to assemble—they also made sure it’s just as easy to disassemble and pack away. The stove comes with a unique storage system consisting of two compact, clamshell-style cases. One case is for the stove body, and the other is for the flue connector and the remaining components. These cases are designed to keep everything organized and secure, so you’re never left searching for a missing part. The stove and its components flat pack into the cases, which are ultra-light and low-profile, making them easy to stow in your backpack. This thoughtful storage solution means you can hit the trail with confidence, knowing your stove is neatly packed and ready for action when you need it.
