Beyond Expectations....And Physics

So I got these poles a few months back in preparation for bear season. The first I used them was on my daughter's bear hunt. I only used them for an hour or so packing a small bear out of a canyon, but I was happy with them. I had used other brands before and they felt similar in quality.
A couple weeks later and on a whim we decided to get permits to go to Yosemite and hike half dome. I was excited to use these as I had long since been converted to using trekking poles even for normal hiking. I knew we had thousands of feet to climb, which meant thousands of feet to descend. By day 3 on the mountain, my left knee was in a bad way. I had previous injuries to my meniscus, so I knew I was in for a painful journey descending thousands of steps to get from the top of half dome down to the valley floor. If you've done that hike you know what I mean. Some incredible people many years ago carved huge steps out of the granite slabs that make up the mountain. Steps are great, except when you have a bad knee and every step down is extremely painful. For a moment there, I was wondering if I was going to have to hit my SOS button on my Garmin.
That's where these poles came into to the picture. I thought for sure I was going to break them on the way down. I'm a bigger guy - 6'2" and 250 lbs, but over 300 lbs with my pack on during that trip. These poles not only held up to the weight, they excelled! I had to put a lot of my weight on them to get me down those steps. The poles didn't slide down under my weight. We started calling them pole vaulting poles by the end of it by how much they were bending! Even when they got stuck between two rocks and I put a ton of pressure on them, zero cracks, or fractures. I don't know what these are made of, but they are well worth the money. I have full confidence these will last twice as long as my last poles. Plus, they have a solid crew of hunters and fellow mountain behind the brand. Stop wasting your time reading my review and order the things! You won't regret it!

Back Country Z Cork

So far they're great. I've put probably 20 miles on them. I'm 6'4" 215 and ruck with 65-100lbs pack. Poles are max out on length but feel great. I'm a midwesty so right now it's just been gravel roads and dirt trails, I'll have a better review after September.

BACKCOUNTRY Z (CORK) TREKKING POLES

I am a every day user of trekking poles now for about the last decade, whether I'm just trail hiking or hunting and packing large, heavy packs. I have never owned a three piece foldable trekking pole, so this is a first for me.
Upon arrival I was very impressed with the compact, foldable size, the weight is basically the same as my other name brand poles that fold into only two sections.
I just used these on a week long backpacking/trail clearing trip in the Selway Wilderness in Idaho. I was very concerned with the amount of flex in the poles, but that was soon put aside as these are the best trekking poles I've ever used. The flex I believe really helped transfer the shock of extreme up and down terrain. The only very small issue I had was with the cork, as it became somewhat slick with rain/sweat during a long day on the trail. This was not a game changer and a very small price to pay for the all day comfort of cork. I love the easy to tighten and torque length adjustments.
Highly recommended product from a great home state of Montana company!
